    1. Party Decorations
    2. Favor Bags
    3. The Food
    4. The Cake
    5. The Games

It’s time to round up the gang for a party! Toy Story 4 came out the summer of 2019. It was a huge success and we know your party will be too when you choose this theme! We have everything you need below to make sure your party is one that will have everyone “Reaching for the stars!”

Party Decorations

Decorating for parties is so much fun! It helps bring the theme to life! Help your guests feel like the party is “To infinity and beyond!”

  • Toy Story DIY Blocks

Blocks are a classic toy, and with a party featuring toys, you will love the idea of using large letter blocks to feature the name of the guest of honor! The video below is a breakdown for how to DIY a large set of “building blocks” for the party! These will be a focal point at the party for sure!

  • Army Drop: Do you remember the scene in the original Toy Story movie where Andy is having a birthday party and all of the toys want to know what new toys are coming into their territory? Army guys were assigned to the mission, and they will make a great addition to your party decor for those who have seen all the Toy Story movies from the beginning! Have army guys dropping down the second floor to see what special gifts the guest of honor has received so they can report back to the rest of the toys! Do this by attaching the green army guys to a jump rope to hang down. If you don’t have a two-story home, get creative somehow and hang somewhere else!

  • Quote Posters: Make posters to hang around the party with the well-known Toy Story quotes:

“To infinity and beyond!”

“You’ve got a friend in me!”

“Reach for the sky.”

  • DIY Balloon Garland

This balloon garland looks amazing! You can hang it over the food or gift table or even use it as a backdrop for a photo booth! This will be another focal point at the party! Learn how to create this same look with the tutorial below:

Photo from: awortheyread.com

Materials:

  • 12″ Balloons in blue, red, yellow, cow spots and clouds (recommended to have 10-15 on hand)
  • 5″ Balloons in blue, red, and yellow (Recommended to have 15 on hand)
  • (3) 24″ Balloons in blue, red, and yellow {one of each}
  • Balloon decorating strip
  • Helium tank
  •  2 Wall Hooks
  • Twine

Directions:

  1. Gather together all of your balloons and other supplies onto the floor. Be sure you give yourself enough space to assemble the garland as it takes up a lot of room!
  2. You’re going to want a helium tank to start filling the balloons with helium. No particular order is necessary. Just fill the balloons first so before you plan how you want them to go onto the garland.
  3. Remember that you want the balloons to be different sizes, so put enough helium inside some of the balloons to make them bigger and less helium in some to make them smaller. Leave enough room to put ties onto the balloons!
  4. Once you have filled all your balloons, it’s time to take the balloon decorating strip and assemble it.
  5. At one end of the balloon decorating strip, skip one hole and start on the second hole. Thread a balloon into the hole, then alternate and put the next balloon on the other side of the strip (see photos here). Put the balloons in every two holes. Skip holes sometimes to be sure there is enough room for the balloons. Once the garland is hung, go back through and fill the holes with the smaller sized balloons.
  6. Keep in mind that what makes the balloon garland look so great is the variety of sizes, color, and style. You don’t have to stick to a specific pattern since the cow and cloud balloons tie this whole garland together.
  7. Once the balloon garland is completely assembled, it’s time to hang it up. Expect for this part to be a bit tricky. Plan to use wall hooks that won’t leave marks once removed. You can attach the garland to the hooks with twine. Don’t be afraid to play around with the garland to make sure it’s shaped and looks the way you desire. Then tie the twine to the hooks to be sure it is situated exactly where you want it to be.
  8. Once the garland is hung, you can keep moving the balloons around. If you need a fuller look, then add more balloons.

  • Hamm Pigs in a Blanket – Label a set of pigs in a blanket as “Hamm Pigs” in a blanket.
  • Slinky Dogs – Make mini pigs in a blanket.

Ingredients:

  • 8-oz. tube crescent rolls
  • 12-oz. package mini cocktail weiners
  • 4 tbsp. melted butter
  • Coarse salt, for sprinkling

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375º. and then on a lightly floured surface, take crescent rolls and unroll the crescent sheets. Tear where perforated. Take the large triangles and cut each triangle into 3 smaller triangles.
  2. Unwrap a package of cocktail weiners. Place one cocktail weiner on the thinner side of each triangle. After, gently roll across to the thicker side.
  3. Transfer all of the pigs in a blanket to a large baking sheet, brush with melted butter and then sprinkle them all with coarse salt.
  4. Bake them all until they are golden — which usually takes around 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Potato Head Spuds – Frozen or homemade tater tots

Photo and Recipe From: damndelicious.com

Note: For more detailed directions, click here.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried dill
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves

Directions:

  1. Take all of the potatoes and place them in a large saucepan. Cover the potatoes by 1 inch with cold water.
  2. Bring the potatoes to a boil and cook for about 6-7 minutes. Once they are cooked, be sure to drain well and let them cool.
  3. Finely shred potatoes with a grater. You’ll want to remove as much water as possible, so take a clean dish towel or cheesecloth and use it to drain potatoes completely.
  4. Once the water is all drained, transfer the potatoes to a large bowl. This is when you will stir in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano and dill. Use the salt and pepper to season to taste. The mixture should be dry enough and workable enough to form potatoes into tots.
  5. In a large stockpot or dutch oven, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.
  6. Add the tots you formed into the skillet — 5 or 6 at a time. Cook them all until evenly golden and crispy. This should take about 3-4 minutes. Once cooked, transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. If you can, serve the tots immediately. If it’s too hard to serve immediately with all the other party planning you have going on, then you can freeze by following the directions below:

**TO FREEZE: Transfer cooled tater tots to an airtight container. Freeze up to 1 month. To bake, preheat oven to 400 degrees F and bake until heated through, about 15-17 minutes.

  • There’s a Snake in My Boot – Make dirt pudding and be sure it includes gummy worms!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 (14 ounce) packages Oreos
  • 6 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 small boxes instant pudding (use all chocolate, all vanilla, or a mix of the two).
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 ounces whipped topping, thawed
  • Gummy worms (necessary)

Instructions:

  1. Take all of the Oreos and place them in a large ziplock bag and seal. Crush the Oreos with a rolling pin. Then pour the melted butter in the bag and shake to combine the butter and Oreos.
  2. Now, it’s time to make the pudding! Whisk the milk and pudding mix together in a bowl. It should start to thicken in about 2 minutes. Set aside for the pudding mix to be ready.
  3. Take an electric mixer or hand mixture, and prepare to mix together the cream cheese and sugar in a bowl. Beat on medium-high speed. Mix until the mixture is smooth and that no lumps remain.
  4. Fold the pudding in, beating on low speed until well combined. Stir in whipped topping.
  5. Place a layer of Oreos at the bottom of a bowl or in individual cups. Put a layer of the pudding mixture on top of the Oreo layers. Repeat until both are gone. If in individual cups, make sure to begin and end with the Oreos. Arrange gummy worms on top.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  • Green Alien Rice Crispy Treats

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups puffed rice cereal
  • 6 drops green food coloring
  • Paring knife
  • Scissors
  • Piping bags and small tip
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
  •  1/4 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter.

  2. Once melted, stir in the marshmallows added.

  3. Stir occasionally as you heat the marshmallows until they are completely melted.

  4. Turn off the stove when melted and add in the cereal and food coloring, stirring until combined.

  5. Once melted, turn off the stove and add in the cereal and food coloring, stir everything until combined.

  6. Place rice krispie treat mixture on a pan. Line the pan with parchment paper before you spread evenly to keep it from sticking.

  7. When the rice krispie treat recipe is cooled completely, draw out the Toy Story Aliens shape on a parchment paper. Then, cut them out by tracing the shape with a paring knife.

  8. Make the eyes and mouth by melting your white chocolate and dark chocolate in separate bowls on the stovetop or microwave.

  9. Take a piping bag with a small tip and place your white chocolate inside, and your dark chocolate in another piping bag with a small, round tip.

  10. Take the rice krispie alien and pipe three-round, white eyes on each. Pipe the rest of the eyes with your dark chocolate. Then add the mouth.

  • Pizza Planet – Set out pizza slices or pizza rolls.
  • Al’s Cheese Puffs – Have a bowl full of cheese puffs.
  • Slinky Pasta – Cook spiral pasta with spaghetti sauce or Alfredo sauce
  • Label all drinks with the labels: Jet Fuel or “Fueling Station”
  • Jesse Hat Cowgirl Cookies

Jessie’s Cowgirl Hat Cookies | Dishes by Disney

Ingredients:

  • Tray
  • Waxed paper
  • Batch of chilled sugar cookie dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • Flour
  • Rolling pin
  • 2-inch round cookie cutter
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheets
  • Wire cooling racks
  • Red cookie icing
  • Butter knife or spatula for spreading the icing
  • Large red gumdrops
  • Tube of white decorator’s icing (with a narrow round tip to pipe on the lacing)

Directions:

  1. Take your tray and cover it with waxed paper to keep the cookies from sticking to the pan. Set it aside.

  2. Grab the homemade or premade sugar cookie dough and roll it out between sheets of flour-dusted waxed paper to a 1/4-inch thickness. Take the cookie cutter and cut out the cookies. Place them on the tray, and then place the tray in the refrigerator. You want to give your cookies time to chill while you heat the oven to the proper temperature.

  3. Once the oven is preheated, it’s time to transfer the cookies to the baking sheet to bake. After they are baked according to the instructions, cool them down before decorating.

  4. Flip the cookies upside down and make the flat surfaces face up. Take the red icing and frost them. Allow the icing to set.

  5. Once the icing has set, slice the domed top off a red gumdrop and add a top to each hat. Squeeze a quarter size dollop of white decorator’s icing onto the bottom of the gumdrop and gently press it down onto the center of the cookie so the icing spreads around the base and resembles a white hatband.

  6. Take your piping bag and pipe a line of trim around the perimeter of each cookie’s hat brim. To resemble white lacing, pipe a series of short lines over the top of the trim.

  6. Choose 2 different sized adhesive googly eyes and attach them to the middle of the spork.
  7. Use a blue Wikki Stix to make Forky’s mouth and press it on the spork.

  • Glue
  • Paper punches
  • Cardstock
  • Ribbon
  • Sequins

  2. Now it’s time to take the self-adhesive craft foam circles and glue the tails on top of them. Then, let them dry!
  3. Each party guest should choose a tail that they can personalize for the game. They can personalize using craft-foam shapes, scrap paper, sequins, glitter, and ribbons.

Have the kids line up and one at a time, blindfold kids, point them in the direction of Bullseye and have them stick their tails on Bullseye. Whoever pins the tail closest to the correct spot on Bullseye is the winner!

Character Break-Down

If you are expecting a lot of guests and want to make your party even more fun, send out a character request to each guest and ask them to show up dressed up as that particular character! To make it easy, with each request you can include the character descriptions below! You can even have a contest for the guest that looks and acts the most like his/her assigned character!

Woody (played by Tom Hanks): Sheriff Woody was Andy’s favorite toy. Though there were moments when Woody questioned Andy’s love for him, Andy always reassured Woody of the joy he brought to Andy. Since Andy has grown up, Woody now lives with Bonnie — a sweet and imaginative little girl who loves and cares for her toys like they are family. Life has changed for Woody, but one thing stays the same — he is loved — and he does whatever it takes to make sure Bonnie is happy!

Buzz Lightyear (played by Tim Allen): When Buzz Lightyear came on Andy’s birthday, everything changed in Andy’s room. The space ranger was originally Woody’s nemesis, but soon the pair became friends. They have faced challenging experiences together that has created an unbreakable bond. Woody is one of the leaders of Andy’s toys, but, like Woody, Buzz Lightyear is highly respected and seen as a leader as well.

Jessie (played by Joan Cusack): In Toy Story 2, Cowgirl Jessie made her debut, and the audience loved her. An old TV show called Woody’s Roundup featured Woody, Jessie, and Jessie’s horse Bullseye as the stars! Jessie became a part of Woody and Buzz’s closest crew and she joined in on the adventures right away!

Rex (played by Wallace Shawn): Mosy T-Rex’s are intimidating and frightening. But not Rex! Rex is a plastic Tyrannosaurus Rex who couldn’t and wouldn’t hurt a fly. In fact, he’s more fearful than he is fearsome. He has a heart of gold. Though bravery isn’t his superpower, he always shows his bravery when it comes to helping his friends in their time of need.

Hamm (played by John Ratzenberger): A piggy bank who is really a pig named Hamm is another fun character in Toy Story. He is know for his humor and wisecracks. He has another side to him called his alter ego known as Evil Dr. Porkchop. He fights for his friends and is loyal until the end.

Mr. Potato Head (played by Don Rickles): The character of Mr Potato Head is grumpy, cynical and sarcastic. The only weakness he has (or shows) is for Mrs. Potato Head who he is madly in love with. Mr. Potato Head is devoted to Woody and always sees the best in him. Don Rickles who played Mr. Potato Head died in 2017, so Pixar used archive recordings from him to include him in the movie. Toy Story 4 is dedicated to Don Rickles.

Mrs. Potato Head (played by Estelle Harris): From the very first movie, Mr. Potato Head was fervently wishing for a partner and lover. At the end of the first movie, Andy sister, Molly, was gifted Mrs. Potato Head, and that’s when the love story began. Mrs. Potato Head quickly became Andy’s toy as well as a devoted wife to her husband. She is the “sweet” to Mr. Potato Head’s “grumpy” and is the perfect match for him.

Slinky Dog (played by Blake Clark): Slinky Dog is one of Woody’s closest friends. He likes playing checkers with Woody and being included on the adventures. No matter what, even if everyone is against Woody, he always has unshakable faith in him.

Bo Peep (played by Annie Potts): Bo Peep is a shining star in Toy Story 4. She is a shepherdess and Woody’s girlfriend. She wasn’t in Toy Story 3, so it was great to see her back. She represented a strong, independent woman after being an “abandoned toy” for so long.

Squeeze Toy Aliens (played by Jeff Pidgeon): The Aliens made their debut in the original Toy Story movie. Their “leader” in that movie who ruled over them was the great and powerful claw! After Mr. Potato Head saved them in Toy Story 2, they were eternally grateful to him and stuck by his side ever since.

Barbie (played by Jodi Benson): Everyone is familiar with the popular Matel toy, Barbie. She is known for having lots of “careers” so many versions of Barbie has been made — including Tour Guide Barbie who appears in Toy Story 2. Remember Andy’s sister, Molly? Well, she ended up donating Barbie to Sunnyside Daycare. Though that seemed terrible to Barbie at the time, that is where she met her soulmate, Ken. They find happiness together and all is right in Barbie’s world once again!

Dolly (played by Bonnie Hunt): Dolly is another toy that belongs to Bonnie. She is a soft ragdoll who is sassy but also smart.

Trixie (played by Kristen Schaal): Trixie is another one of Bonnie’s toys. She is a plastic triceratops who welcomes Rex to Bonnie’s room. The pair shares a mutual love of videogames and becomes great friends!

Mr. Pricklepants (played by Timothy Dalton): Mr. Pricklepants is a hedgehog who wears lederhosen. He is a thespian and takes acting extremely seriously.

Combat Carl (played by Carl Weathers): Like Barbie, there are multiple Combat Carls. The first time one appears in the Toy Story movie series is when Sid in the original Toy Story blows Combat Carl up in his backyard. In Toy Story of Terror, Combat Carl and smaller version Combat Carl Jr. play larger roles. In Toy Story 4, Combat Carl has a larger role again because he is needed to assist Bo Peep in an adventure. In that movie, there are three Combat Carl Jr’s who help her out.

Buttercup (played by Jeff Garlin): Buttercup is Bonnie’s toy unicorn. He is mostly sweet-natured and easy-going.

Chuckles the Clown (played by Bud Luckey): Chuckles used to belong to Daisy but was given to Bonnie after a falling out with Lotso. Like Mr. Potato Head, Chuckles appears in Toy Story 4 courtesy of archive recordings.

Forky (played by Tony Hale): Bonnie crafts Forky out of items she finds in a trash can at kindergarten orientation — pipe-cleaners and a plastic spork. Forky does not feel like a toy because of how he was created. He is not amused and desperately tries to go home to a garbage can any chance he gets. He’s not the sharpest “spork” in the shed, but once he sees that Bonnie finds comfort in him and loves him, he accepts his role in her life. He is one of the stars of Toy Story 4 and has one of the biggest story lines!

Giggle McDimples (played by Ally Maki): Giggles McDimples is a police officer who travels around with Bo Peep and shows us how wonderful things can come in small packages. She lives in a Polly Pocket-like home. Giggles is a resourceful and loyal friend to Bo Peep. When Bo infiltrates the antique store for a rescue opp, she’s got her back.

Duke Caboom (played by Keanu Reeves): Duke Caboom is a 1970s action figure and stuntman from Canada. When he meets Bo Peep, he is no longer an outcast as she accepts him and includes him as a friend. Mr. Caboom comes equipped with a cool costume and a motorcycle. He isn’t always the best stuntman around, but he doesn’t give up!

Gabby Gabby (played by Christina Hendricks): Gabby Gabby is an antique doll who is the antagonist for Toy Story 4. She is all dressed up and ready for someone to choose her at the antique shop, but no on ever does. She believes it’s because her voice box is broken, so she makes it her mission to replace her voice box with Woody’s. At the end of the day, the toys realize she’s not as much a villain as she is someone who just wants to be loved and will do whatever it takes.

Bunny (played by Jordan Peele) and Ducky (played by Keegan-Michael Key): Bunny is a carnival toy looking for a new owner. His sidekick is Ducky. They both don’t want to be carnival toys, so they break free and join Buzz Lightyear’s adventure and become the comedy relief throughout Toy Story 4.

Bonnie (Madeleine McGraw): Bonnie is a young girl just starting kindergarten. When Andy grew up, he needed someone he could trust to take care of all his special toys. He passed them onto Bonnie after he moved to college. She loves her toys and has a special place in her heart for each of them. She created Forky in the movie to help give her comfort through all the nervousness she feels about Kindergarten.
