Here is a fantastic recipe for a cold weather get together that will make 100 cups of hot chocolate for your guests to enjoy! It is easy, and can be served and kept warm in an electric coffee urn at your event.
Hot Chocolate
4 cups sugar
3 cups baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 quart warm water
2 quarts boiling water
4 gallons hot milk
In a large kettle, combine sugar, cocoa, salt and warm water; mix well. Add boiling water; boil for one minute; then turn down the heat and simmer for an additional ten minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in hot milk.
Allow the hot cocoa to cool for five minutes, then serve in individual mugs, and add your choice of toppings. Recommended toppings include cinnamon, marshmallows, peppermint sticks, or whipped cream.
