Disposable napkins along with cloth napkins can sometimes be folded into a number of fancy shapes. Of course, cloth napkins are obviously more durable than disposable ones, so you want to be careful. In fact, we recommend you stick with only the simpler folds for most or our paper products. However, the more durable linen like disposable napkins should be capable of a little more.
So, What Are Some Fancy Napkin Folds You Can Try?
The Classic Fan Fold: You must have seen the fan fold somewhere right? Take your napkin and spread it out on a flat surface. Start a straight line fold about an inch from the top edge. Then continue with straight folds about 1” apart. Place the napkin (usually in a cocktail glass) so that the folds are aligned vertically. The French Fold: Place your napkin face down and flat in front of you. Fold the napkin diagonally in half (so it forms a triangle). Turn the napkin so that its long side is aligned on your left. With the long side on your left, reach for the napkin’s far corner and fold it down until the point is roughly level with the left-bottom point aligned to your left. Make sure you create a crease. Next, take the right most point and fold it towards you along the same crease you created moments ago. The finished napkin should then drape the dinner plate.
The Silverware Roll: This simple fold is great for buffet style dinners or for any occasion where your guests may be moving around a bit. As with the other folds, lay your napkin out flat in front of you. Diagonally fold your napkin in half creating a triangle. Take the long side of the triangle and align that side straight in front of you. Place your silverware on the napkin just above that long side edge. Fold both the left and right sides of the napkin over your silverware. Finally, tightly roll the napkin up into a roll.
