Farm Animal Trivia

Farm animals and agriculture have been essential to human advancement. In fact, until the Industrial Revolution, the vast majority of the human population was a farm worker in one form or another. Farming has been, and will continue to be, extremely important to everyone. And, besides all that, who doesn’t like a little bit of bacon and eggs for breakfast?

Farm party supplies can be fun by themselves, but you can combine them with farm trivia for even more fun. For example, can you answer the following farm-animal-related questions?

Q: What is the difference between a cow and a heifer
A: A cow is an adult female that has had a calf. A heifer is a young female (under three years of age) that has not yet had a calf.

Q: What is the difference between a bull and an ox?
A: An ox has been castrated. (Okay, maybe you don’t use that one for your party trivia, but I thought it was interesting).

Q: Are pigs carnivores or herbivores?
A: Trick question! Pigs are both; they are known as omnivores.

Q: Why are pigs used to hunt for truffles?
A: They have an exceptional sense of smell that is highly advantageous when searching for truffles.

Q: What’s the difference between a rooster and a cockerel?
A: A cockerel is a male chicken under a year old. A rooster is a male chicken over a year old.

Fun Chicken Facts

1. The Romans used chickens in their oracles. It was considered favorable for a hen to appear on a person’s left.
2. In 249 BC, the Roman general Publius Pulcher’s chickens refused to eat before the Battle of Drepana, so he had them thrown overboard and said, “If they won’t eat, perhaps they will drink!” He subsequently lost the battle and 93 ships. Later, when he returned to Rome, he would be fined and tried for impiety.

We hope you enjoy these farm party supplies and fun farm questions! Both can help make your farm birthday party or other themed celebration a little more fun.
