Art Party Ideas

Let the creativity flow with a stimulating and entertaining art party!

Paint Pudding: Let everyone eat some of their favorite “paints” by providing them with several different types of pudding on a platter. Make different flavors of pudding (it’s better if they are varied colors) and let your guests scoop up their favorite paint and have a few bites! You can make some truly fun colors by mixing in food coloring as well! If you want, you can make the platter look like a palette for a more visual effect.

Edible Dough: Give everyone the chance to be creative while cleaning up the mess on their own. Make several batches of edible dough and let your guests take what they please. They can create their own works of art before eating the entire creation and leaving behind no mess. For the easiest way to make this edible dough, mix 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of corn syrup, 1 ½ cups of powdered sugar, and 1 ½ cups of dry milk. Add food coloring and you’ll have delicious dough that’s as fun to play with as it is to eat!

Sand Art: Unleash your guest’s creative side by letting them make some sand art. All that you need for this project is a few different colors of sand and a transparent container. Take typical items like water bottles or CD cases and transform them into something unique and stylish. Tell everyone ahead of time so that they can bring their own container that they want to make into art.

Pass the Picture: This is a fun activity that everyone can participate in, regardless of their skill level. Get out a blank sheet of paper and let everyone know what the theme is. Then, have everyone line up and start a timer. Give everyone a set amount of time, like 30 seconds, to draw something before they must pass the picture along. See what the end result is, with everyone choosing who the best contributor was.

Finger painting: If you have older children, give them the chance to get messy with some finger paints. You can find a number of different paints to use, some of which are easier to clean than others. This is a messy, yet great, way to bring everybody together and let them take something home to remember the party by.

A great artist knows that tools are needed for the desired effect. Make sure that your art party is a hit by getting all of the necessary art party supplies.
