Imagine being in a room of three thousand of the most diehard fans who are just moments away from experiencing the movie they have all been feverishly anticipating for years. Even camping out on the theater floor with blankets, playing cards, reading books or listening to an I-pod for hours adds to this epic event. For many tonight will be seeing their favorite book series come to life right in front of them, bringing them one step closer to being a part of a world they’ve only dreamt of. If you have never made it out to an opening night midnight show, you have never experienced the excitement of this event. The uncontrollable energy is so electric and contagious; you are “sucked” right in. You can’t help but “drink” up the excitement!
Of course, I am talking about the 4th movie in the Twilight Saga, “Breaking Dawn”; the first of the 2 part finale, at Midnight on Friday, November 18th; which just happened to be last night. This movie has been greatly anticipated by fans around the globe and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. With more romance, passion, intrigue and action, the conclusion of The Twilight Saga begins. In this movie fans will see a faithful, well-made depiction of the most eventful book in a beloved series. They’ll see the actors they adore embodying characters they cherish.
The film is expected to generate over $140 million in the first weekend alone; playing in over 4,000 theaters domestically. NCG Eastwood Cinema sold out of 18 Midnight shows to roughly 3,000 fans. Celebration Cinema sold over 1000 tickets to the Midnight showing last night and was showed in 6 theaters simultaneously. For the diehard of all diehard Twilight fans, Celebration offered a four movie, several hour marathons. Fans started arriving at the theater as early as 3:00pm Thursday and they just kept on coming, until the theater was packed with uncontrollable excitement and energy.
Being an avid Twilight fan, I watched the countdown to this unbelievable night for months; I purchased my ticket the night they went on sale months ago! Finally, the night I had been waiting for had arrived and the experience completely exceeded my expectations! Hold on to your seats Twilight fans, Breaking Dawn is the best movie in the Twilight Saga yet! Each time a new movie was released, I felt they got better and better but this is incomparable. The movie’s script really stays true to the book. The few small areas that it strays are excellent additions. Every person in the theater was completely enthralled. You laugh out loud, you cry. At parts you are sitting on the edge of your seat, holding your breath and others you’re basking in the romance and passion between Edward and Bella. As soon as it was over, I wanted to see it again; it didn’t matter that it was 2:00am. Breaking Dawn is what every Twilight fan has been waiting for. A truly magnificent book came alive so beautifully, it will take your breath away; from the Wedding, to the honeymoon, to Jacob’s love and obsession for Bella and a twist of fate. The entire cast was stunning and the acting was fabulous.
Now you may be wondering about the famous honeymoon, we have all been waiting for. I promise you will not be disappointed. It was very sexy and passionate. You will be blown away by the beauty of Esme Isle. It’s a glamorous depiction of a most Euphoric place and time. On that note; I will take a minute to say that I was considering taking my 11 and 13 year old to see the movie. After watching it, I have decided either we will find a way to leave the theater for the honeymoon, or just wait and rent it. I felt the level of passion displayed was a little too mature for my own kids. I would strongly recommend watching the movie, before deciding whether it is age appropriate for your own children.
You may be reading this wondering what all the fuss is about. What makes this movie series so intriguing to so many people? Well, I can tell you from experience; it’s much more than just a night of entertainment for many people. Stephanie Meyer published the first book in the Twilight saga in 2005. By 2008 the entire Twilight Sage was complete and Millions of people were raving about how they fell in love with them. It took me a little longer to get on board. I was not a confident reader and to tell you the truth, I was just plain not interested in reading period. I had a good friend who kept trying to get me interested in reading the books. I thought I was too mature to read them. (lol!) By this time the first movie had been released and I heard all the hype from the younger crowed. I prided myself on telling people I was not interested in reading the books or seeing the movies. Finally after months of pleading from my friend, I told her I would start to read the first book (it was just to get her off my back). Well, obviously since I am writing this, you can probably guess, it did not take long for me to be swept away by how much I was enjoying reading Twilight. It was so beautiful and intriguing. I would read for hours without stopping. My stomach would be growling with hunger pains, I had to go to the bathroom, my head would be hurting, my eyes would be sore but “Once you start, it’s almost impossible to stop”. I could not believe how quickly I finished the book and was begging for the others. When I was finished, I almost cried wondering how any other book could ever grasp me the way this story did. I almost panicked, wondering what I was going to read next. I needed to read!
Stephanie Meyer’s, the Twilight Saga was the first book she ever wrote. It may not have been altogether grammatically correct but it captured something beautiful that lets you look beyond that. It has been such an inspiration to me and so many others. It has opened up hopes and dreams and encouraged young and old to open up their creative minds to write down their own stories. She has inspired countless people, who did not know they loved books, to become addicted to reading. The first year after I read the Twilight saga, I read over 70 books and 6 book series. I was able to gain better reading skills, spelling and vocabulary skills that enhanced my life. I was able to pass that passion and enthusiasm on to my children, who are all addicted to the written word as I am. My kids and I read some of the same series and have book discussions that bring us closer and give us something in common. Over all, I will say, The Twilight Saga has changed my life in an awesome way and I will forever be grateful.
In conclusion, I have to say a few more things about Breaking Dawn: first, make sure when you go see the movie that you take a few minutes at the end to watch the credits, some fun stuff that I won’t ruin for you. And second, make sure to check out the Official Breaking Dawn Soundtrack. If you have enjoyed the soundtracks from the previous Twilight Saga movies, you will love this one. It features Christina Perri singing “A Thousand Years”. This song is so beautiful and describes Edwards love for Bella, so clearly. You can also view the video on Youtube, which has scenes from Breaking Dawn in it. The Soundtrack also features work by our own, Robert Pattinson and a new version of Iron and Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” it is perhaps the album’s sweetest, most enchanting track. I hope you have enjoyed this review, and that you enjoy the movie!
