Allergies, colds and flu viruses have been hitting my family and others I know a lot this year, no matter the season, and I have decided to share my special secret for keeping noses comfortable and intact, or at least as comfortable and intact as is possible when you or your kids are sick. Boogie Wipes (for little kids) and Saline Soothers (for older kids and adults) are my secret no longer. No family should go without these invaluable wipes at hand at all times. So we all know that saline spray/drops are classically the best way to go for flushing out snot and mucus when allergies or illness strike. However, I hate the feeling of the saline shooting up my nose, and I hate, even more, pinning my daughter down to force saline up her nose when needed. I felt like I had struck the jackpot when I discovered Boogie Wipes. They are “gentle saline wipes for stuffy noses” and truly do the trick of keeping noses clean and moisturized. I now buy Saline Soothers for my husband and I, which come in different scents than the Boogie Wipes, but essentially do the same work. I like the lavender-scented Saline Soothers. Boogie Wipes come in unscented, fresh scented and grape scented. They were invented by two moms, Mindee Doney and Julie Pickens, frustrated with the saline products available to them for colds. Doney and Pickens sold the first pack of Boogie Wipes in December 2007, and the product was an instant success. You can get them at Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Toys ‘R Us, or online at amazon.com. They come in individual packets, or in packs of 30, 90 or 120. I keep individual packets and packs of 30 around the house and in my purse regularly, but as soon as a virus hits one of us, I quickly buy the 120 count canister.
Even if you are not sick, Boogie Wipes are great to take on plane trips, or anywhere you expect to inhale really dry air (remember, air conditioners and heaters will tend to dry out noses). Just a quick wipe will feel very refreshing. I bought several packs of Boogie Wipes at a Walgreens store in Honolulu a few months ago, when my daughter was suffering from allergies, and the lady behind the register was asking me about the product, since she had never seen it before. I gave her one of the wipes from a pack I was purchasing, and she used it as a refreshing face wipe, since she worked in dry air conditioning all day, and then I tried it. I admit that in Hawaii’s heat, it was quite nice to wipe my face with a Boogie Wipe. This is why I recommend keeping some around at all times, for whatever the need or reason. Moms (and dads) will love Boogie Wipes!
Party Tip: Keep Boogie Wipes handy at pool parties! They are great and refreshing for when you or your kids exit the pool!
