Hell’s Kitchen Recap – Episode 7

Aaaaah, nothing like a nice round of mudslinging and foul-mouthed name calling to get my Monday rolling, and no predictions for this evening as I am just making myself look awful in that department.

The Challenge
Poor Krupa came into this challenge nursing a huge hangover after a night of heavy boozing. The chef were presented with a table full of fresh ingredients, told to handle and smell them, and then asked what they would prepare with them. In came two experts who revealed that they would make beer with the ingredients, which then became the challenge; make a beautiful dish with beer as the ingredient. If I could have jumped through the TV screen at this point, I most definitely would have.
With an extra player, the girls had to eliminate one dish, and Krupa’s got the cut. First up, Carrie versus Paul, with Carries getting the point as the judges almost choked on Paul’s dish; 1-0 red team. Jonathon and Elise went head to head, and Elise put the ladies 2-0 up as her salmon crushed Jonathon’s fruit plate extravaganza; that boy does love pineapple. Jennifer and Natalie went into battle next, with Natalie taking it and cutting the lead to one. Elizabeth’s over salted clams were crushed by Will’s lamb dish, and we were all tied up at 2. All the dishes were ranked by the chef’s before habd, and the top two of Jamie and Tommy went head to head for the win. Amazingly, both chefs came up with the same dish, but Tommy’s got the nod, giving the blue team the win. Winning team got VIP seats at an Indy Car race, while the ladies were, once again, left behind to clean, prep and receive deliveries.

Dinner Service
It was beer night at dinner service with massive beer towers at every table….yummy. The women got off to a flying start, seeming to bond rather than focus on fighting. Natalie got off to a surprisingly slow start, messing up her scallops, which slowed service down. Despite Elise’s snafu’s on salad, which of course she tried to blame on Carrie, the ladies quickly finished appetizers and moved on to entrée’s. Natalie’s second attempt at scallops came out as bad as the first, and Chef Ramsay discovered another 20 plus that she had ruined, but with Will’s help, she turned it around.
Krupa and Jamie were on meat and fish respectively, and seemed to have a problem getting their timing right. The men seemed to be having similar problems with Tommy making a dog’s breakfast of all the beef wellingtons. With the women humming along, Elise decided it was time to take over, reverting back to her usual loud, overbearing style. The yelling seemed to derail Krupa who continued to sink further into the mire, but they were joined by the blue team with their wellingtons, and raw fish. Natalie and Jonathon were banished from the kitchen with Jonathon announcing that he was quitting. Chef Ramsay chased them both up the hall and did his usual job of making them feel even worse than they originally did.
The remaining blue team boys picked it up, and coming down to the wire the two teams finished neck and neck, but it was not enough to stop them both being announced as losers, and told to pick 2 members each for elimination.

Elimination
The blue team went with Natalie and Jonathon, while the reds went with Krupa and Jamie, a decision that Carrie choked on, stating that she thought Elise should be up. Ultimately, Chef Ramsay eliminated Krupa, destroying one of my early choices to win, but that wasn’t the end of it…..except we have to wait till tomorrow night to see what else is coming. Cliffhangers, gotta hate them.
