It’s down to the dirty dozen in Hell’s Kitchen, and there are 3 or 4 that are flirting with elimination each and every week. Which of Monterray, Tommy, Carrie and Elise will go on this episode?
The Challenge
It was revealed that a High School reunion would be taking place during dinner service, with Paul and Elizabeth sent to meet the organizers, just to get an idea of what they would like to see on the menu. After being sent back, the pair had to convey to their team what the high school crew wanted to see served on the big night; the challenge was to create a tasting menu for tasting.
Monterray struggled to come up with ideas, whereas Carrie had far too many ideas of her own, ignoring the feedback from Elizabeth. That may have been a good idea, as the girls were told to create Asian meals, even though Hawaiian was asked for by the reunion organizers.
The men’s team won the first round, largely on the back of Carrie’s nonsense talk at the table. The blue team went up 2-0 thanks to Monterray’s delicious chutney dish. Elizabeth failed to tell her team that one of the women was a vegetarian, and the serving of a sauce that contained bacon had Chef Ramsay glowering fiercely; 3-0, and a victory for the men with a clean sweep. The boys were treated to a cruise on a super yacht, with the girls consigned to cleaning and transforming the dining room into a Hawaiian themed party room.
Dinner Service
The dining room decorations turn out beautiful, but the women manage to make a complete dog’s breakfast of the three tier cake. The blue team winning the challenge meant that their creations were on the menu, putting the ladies at a distinct disadvantage; the men used that edge to get their appetizers flying out quickly, whilst the red team struggled.
The men hit the wall at the entrees with Paul sending up the first dish raw, the undercooked snapper smashed to smithereens on the countertop by Chef Ramsay. Elise decided to put her mouth to good use for once, volunteering to lead the women out of appetizer oblivion, and it seemed to work.
Carrie and Monterray continued to underwhelm, but the surprise of the night was Paul who couldn’t seem to handle the fish station, which got him sent out of the kitchen. The snapper continued to be the downfall of the blue team, and with another raw one hitting the pass, the boys (plus Natalie) were consigned to the dorms.
The red team was ordered to take over the men’s kitchen and finish service on both sides, which they went at with gusto. Meanwhile, upstairs, the men started pointing fingers, with Monterray receiving the majority of the accusing digits.
Elimination
The boys put up Monterray and Paul, both of whom struggled on the fish station, a major part of the defeat. Chef Ramsay also called up Jonathon, looking for him to explain his lackluster performance. After a passionate speech, Paul was sent back in line by Chef, before he sent Monterray packing; it’s down to 11 and the weak are falling fast.
