Episode 4 opened with the ladies bemoaning the fact that Carrie survived elimination, and Elise running her mouth some more, this time aiming her own delightful brand of vitriol aimed at Krupa.
The Challenge
Sous chefs, Scott and Andy showed up early with clothes, overalls and boots that would help in the challenge. The hayseed looking chefs were taken outside and shown a chicken coop that they would have to get into and chase the birds. Every one caught means an extra ingredient for the 4 chicken dishes they have to prepare for the challenge. The red team caught 9 birds, the blue team 11, meaning a nice selection of ingredients for both the men and the ladies. Problems arose on both sides with Monterray dropping half a chicken breast on the floor, and Carrie leaving her chicken raw.
A pair of food writers came in to judge and it was revealed that the best dish would be featured in Food magazine.
Gina and Carrie were up against Paul, and the men won given that the girl’s meal was inedible. The sautéed chicken was next and Jennifer and Krupa, plus the team of Will and Jonathon, both scored points for their teams making it 2-1 in favor of the men. Jamie’s grilled chicken went over okay, and Monterray and Jonathon were forced to admit to their chicken dropping blunder, handing the point to the ladies; all even with one round to go. Elise and Elizabeth went up against Natalie and Chino, and although both teams nailed it, the judges gave the point to the red team. The best dish went to Elise and Elizabeth, and the whole team won a fun go karting trip, whilst the boys had to clean out the chickens and make stock.
Dinner Service
Even before dinner service started, Elise’s mouth got her in trouble again, this time rubbing sous chef Andy the wrong way. There was a little surprise for both kitchens with VIP guests, all former Olympic athletes, sitting at the chefs table, right in the kitchen. Krupa was chosen to host the VIP’s for the red team, whilst Jonathon was chosen to host for the blue team.
Elise’s first attempt at scallops got vetoed, but Chef Ramsay gave her a little one on one help, and she rocked the next lot out. The men didn’t start too well with Tommy using too much dressing on the salad for the VIP table. After one hour, the blue team had all their appetizers out, thanks in large part to Natalie, but the entrees stalled when Monterray messed up the sea bass, which in turn became a full-fledged screaming match between he and sous chef Scott. It was so loud it actually blocked out the sound of Elise’s voice for once.
At the 2 hour mark, the ladies finally got their appetizers out and moved on to entrees, with Gina slowing things down by messing up the New York strip. On the blue team, Chino continued to struggle, messing up prep times and sending up a raw wellington. Elise was next to mess up, again sending up raw food, much to the delight of the other girls. Yet another raw disaster from Chino spelled the end of service for the blue team and a trip upstairs, leaving the women in charge of serving both VIP tables. Up stepped Gina with the lamb for the red VIP table and, guess what, raw again, followed by the red team kitchen getting shut down.
Elimination
With such a poor showing at service, both teams were told to pick 2 people for elimination. The blue team put up Chino and Monterray, whilst the ladies went with Carrie and Elise. Chef Ramsay asked all the women who they would like to see go, and they all chose Elise, hands down, but Chef sent her back and chose to eliminate Chino, not really a surprise to anyone.
