Episode 3 started with the men whining about their poor performance, and the fact that one of the girl’s will be joining the blue team; Paul was the only one who seemed to embrace the idea. The ladies loved the idea of splitting up the squabbling duo of Carrie and Elise, and got their wish when Carrie volunteered to join the men. Decision made, the teams headed off for a restful night’s sleep, only to be woken by a bunch of creepy clowns waking them up; scenes of Stephen King’s “It” ran through my mind causing me to pause the show as I fought off goose bumps.
The Challenge
Before the challenge began; Chef Ramsay vetoed the Carrie move and elected Natalie as the new member of the blue team. Cue the clowns once more, followed by a horde of little kids with the first team to complete their lunch service crowned as the winners. The menu consisted of mac and cheese with quesadilla for the kids, followed by a Panini sandwich for the moms. Both teams came flying out the gate, serving half the kids meals in less than 20 minutes, but the ladies stalled when Jamie started burning the quesadillas. The men continued to rock with Natalie providing the sort of leadership that had been missing on the blue team till this point. Despite the constant squabbling between Carrie and Elise, the two teams came down to the wire virtually neck and neck, but in the end the men prevailed, thanks in large part to Natalie’s influence. The poor girls were forced to clean up the nasty mess left by the kids, while the blue team headed to Medieval Times for a feast fit for a king.
Dinner Service
The build up to the family night dinner service is a moment I can’t really comment on; the fighting among the girls got so annoying, I had to turn down the volume as the noise was upsetting the neighborhood dogs. Chino and Gina drew the short straws and were forced onto the floor to help maître d, James. The action in the kitchen, rendered secondary by Chino’s horrendous floor performance, seemed to be going smoothly till Amanda tipped over a pan of sauce, creating a smoke cloud that put the eruption of Mt. Saint Helen’s to shame. Carrie and Jennifer teamed up on the meat station and drew Chef Ramsay’s ire by making a complete mess of their first ticket. Meanwhile, on the men’s side, the appetizers flew out, and then Will took charge as the entrée’s started. The women continued to struggle, with Amanda having a nightmare evening on the meat station; undercooking items, forgetting to start others. Her problems were infectious, and the entire red team seemed unable to do anything right, which led Chef Ramsay to call Gina in off the floor and order her to take the entire team round the dining room to apologize to every table. While the ladies were sent upstairs to fight some more, the men, and Natalie, banded together to complete both dinner services…….obvious winner, blue team.
Elimination
Chef Ramsay put a stop to the personal attacks on Carrie, and asked if there was an ego problem on the red team. Krupa stepped up and said that Carrie and Elise’s constant bickering was affecting the whole team. Chef the called down Jennifer, who struggled so badly on the meat station, along with Carrie and Amanda. To everyone’s surprise, Amanda got the boot, meaning we have to listen to another night of insane cat-fighting between Carrie and Elise……*sigh*.
