Well, it looks as though Pixar has done it again! Their upcoming movie, Brave, due out in June of 2012, looks absolutely amazing! The story tells the tale of a young princess who fights against tradition, to become an archer in the highlands of Scotland. This movie stars some amazing actors, including Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Craig Ferguson, and Billy Connolly. Actress Kelly MacDonald takes on the title role as the princess who inadvertently endangers her father’s kingdom, when she refuses to follow expectations, and tries to carve out her own path in life.
As with all of the Pixar movies that have come before it, this movie looks absolutely stunning, visually. It will be offered in 3-D, in some theaters for fans of that genre. I think something that will make this movie stand apart a little from some other family-oriented films, is the departure from “girl wants to become a princess” storyline that we see so frequently. (Even though plenty of those movies are absolutely delightfully done, and very charming to boot, like Tangled or Enchanted.) We are really excited to see more about this movie over the next year, and you can bet that we will be first in line on opening day!
