Green Lantern Party Supplies

Green Lantern Party Supplies will be here soon, so start planning those Green Lantern Parties! Superhero themes are one of the hottest party trends around right now. Between Captain America, Thor, Marvel Superheroes, Superman, and the many other comic book superstars, we have party themes to please everyone!

So it turns out that the Green Lantern has a back story that is a little different from most other superhero stories. He didn’t fall into a vat of radioactive goop, or arrive from another planet, or get exposed to interstellar gamma rays, on a top-secret space mission; instead, he comes into possession of a magic lantern, and crafts a magic ring with it that has amazing powers. The first Green Lantern was named “Alan Ladd” (a play on words form the name Aladdin and his magic lamp.)

Since then, several characters have assumed the “Green Lantern” persona, each receiving the powers that go along with the magic lantern and the ring. The character “Hal Jordan” was one of the most popular, and most important in the history of the character. He was one of the founding members of the Justice League, and it is his character that Ryan Reynolds will be bringing to life in the big-screen adaptation The Green Lantern, coming in 2011!

ChristmasCookies are a huge part of Christmas celebrations. Even people who are not enthusiastic about cooking, pull out their dusty baking sheets, stock up on flour, sugar, and butter, and start baking up a storm. Baking is great, and as a lifelong fan of cookies, I would never discourage anyone from trying their hand at making a really elaborate, complicated dish. But really, why? Most people are overextended and stressed during the holidays anyway. There are travel arrangements to make, presents to buy and wrap, holiday parties to plan and attend, etc. Why not stick to a few simple and basic recipes that are delicious, and please everyone, but still leave you some time to actually enjoy the holidays! So check them out and give some of them a try!

Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookies are the quintessential Christmas Cookie. This particular recipe makes cookies that are easy to roll out and cut into festive shapes with cookie cutters. They hold their shape well, for transport and decorating. Best of all, they are delicious! Frost them with your favorite vanilla frosting, or royal icing!

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter , softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon No Color Almond Extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Directions

Justin Bieber Party Supplies

Justin Bieber Party Supplies. Sigh. Okay, let’s do this.

justin-bieber-my-world2Source

First, let it be said, that I am sure Justin Bieber is a lovely young man. I’m sure he is sweet, and polite, and humble, and just dreamy in every way. He is not, as has been rumored, the downfall of music in America (I don’t think.) His rise to fame has been remarkable, a true American success story in every way, save one. He is Canadian.

He was born in London, Ontario, a mere 180 miles from where I now write this, in mid-Michigan (so really, he is very nearly American after all) and became famous, via the internet. Is that how you become famous these days? Apparently so. He recorded videos of himself singing and put them on youtube, where his catchy pop tunes started racking up major view counts. A music studio executive stumbled across his videos and tracked him down in his hometown. The rest, as they say, is history.
